• If you have fine hair, it will take 5 to 6 months after bleaching for your curls to return.
• It will take two to three months for your curls to regrow if you have thick hair.
• If you have synthetic curls, you should be aware that bleaching and perming are entirely incompatible and will cause irreparable harm to your hair.
I’ll explain why I don’t suggest it in this piece of article.
• In less than a month, if your hair was virgin before bleaching, you will regain your curls.
• On the other hand, it will take roughly 3 months to regain your curls if your hair was previously colored, and 6 months if it was previously bleached.
• The kind of bleach you used will also have an impact on how long it takes for your curls to grow back (20, 30 or 40 volume peroxide).
• We will examine each instance in detail in this article, and I’ll also give you advice on how to quickly regrow your curls after bleaching.
Have you bleached your hair and your curls have disappeared? No need to be scared. Everything is recoverable.
Although they might not entirely revert to their original form, they will essentially resemble how you appeared before bleaching your hair.
We must first examine a few criteria in order to estimate how long it will take for your curls to emerge once more.
There won’t be a mathematical formula in a few years. Let’s examine what those elements are now:
- Hair type
- Hair condition
- Type of discoloration
- Post bleaching treatments
- Chemical maintenance
When all of these factors are considered, the outcomes will vary.
We shall next do the combination and monitor the recovery time of your hair.
Assume you bleached all of your hair in the time required to turn it a very light blonde, using a 20 volume peroxide and hair that has never been dyed before.
CURLS IN FINE HAIR
The most severe punishment will be meted out to hair like this. After bleaching your hair, it is highly possible that your curls will go, leaving behind a shapeless mass of frizz and hair that looks incredibly porous.
Everything has a solution, so relax. Most likely, you will still have some curls after the first week, but the discoloration will fade over time.
In this situation, I advise you to boost your hair’s hydration and nourishment for the first three weeks before going back to tone and nourish your hair with dye once more.
This is the greatest technique to maintain your curls during the first month; if you are able to get through that first obstacle, you can reduce the frequency of maintenance between the second and third month.
You can now help yourself with styling creams and gels. Never brush it dry; let it air dry naturally.
I predict that, with this sort of curl in fine hair, you will be displaying an organized and disciplined curl once more in 5 to 6 months, albeit it might not be exactly the same as the one you had before bleaching your hair.
CURLS IN THICK HAIR
In general, thick hair has more defined curls that are more elastic and resistant and have a springy shape.
They won’t entirely disintegrate after bleaching, but they will have a propensity to puff up and acquire much greater volume as a result of the drying that bleaching causes.
As in the prior instance, keeping them well hydrated will be the key during the first month.
If you can get through it, your curls will return to normal in the second and third month.
The recovery of its suppleness will take significantly longer (between 4 and 5 months), as bleaching eliminates your curls’ natural movement and makes them more static.
Styling products are also beneficial after the first month. There are many different solutions available now to moisturize curls and eliminate frizz. The most significant factor at this time will be this.
CURLS MADE ARTIFICIALLY
I completely advise you to abandon the thought of bleaching if you have permed, curly hair.
Your hair will probably be irreparably damaged, and your curls won’t return.
Because bleaching and perming cannot be combined, you will have dead hair. Please don’t attempt it because time alone won’t be able to restore it. Instead, passing time will allow you to observe how your hair’s quality degrades over time.
CONDITION OF HAIR
The length of time it takes for your curls to return to normal will also depend on the condition of your hair before the bleaching.
• Virgin hair will be more resilient and more likely to recover in a shorter amount of time.
Remember that the more you feed it, the quicker you will see the results you want.
• On the other hand, because it has been chemically processed, colored hair will require more maintenance. Your recovery will therefore be slower.
It will take between two and three months to regain your curls, depending on how much it has already been treated.
• If it had previously been bleached, you may be confident that within six months your curls will grow back.
How long it takes to heal, though, depends on how porous and elastic it is.
DISCOLORATION TYPES
The length of time it takes for your curls to grow back will also depend on the type of discoloration.
• In contrast, bleaching with 30 volume peroxides is a little harsher, so you will have to wait longer to see your curls form again. Bleaching with a 20 volume peroxide will be gentle, it may not reach extremely light tones, but you won’t lose your curls practically.
• Bleaching with a 40 volume peroxide is already rather aggressive; as a result, your curls will be severely damaged, will take a long time to heal, and will never be the same as before.
TREATMENTS AFTER BLEACHING
The moisturizing-nutritive care you can provide your hair after it has been bleached will be crucial.
Remember that your hair has experienced significant dehydration; as a result, the sooner you begin the treatments, the quicker your hair will recover and the quicker those curls will develop after bleaching.
Today’s market offers a huge selection of goods that are suitable for all demands, at all price points, and with varying degrees of damage.
There are no longer any justifications because getting your curls back will take as long as it takes to actually fix them.
MAINTENANCE OF CHEMICALS
You will need to perform maintenance after one to two months have passed since your hair completely lost its color.
The best course of action is to schedule maintenance on a regular basis to prevent excessive growth.
By doing so, you will just need to use bleach to touch up the new growth before extending the color to the rest of the hair. Your curls will maintain their shape month after month as a result of all the hair retaining moisture.
IF YOU NOURISH YOUR HAIR, IT WILL RECOVER FROM DISCOLORATION MORE QUICKLY.
In this post, we’ve seen how long it takes for each type of hair’s curls to regrow after bleaching.
You should be aware that I figured these times based on the supposition that the discoloration was applied in a beauty parlor. This is not a game, and self-bleaching is a very dangerous procedure.
Imagine a bleaching done at home if all the times to recover the curls I stated in the post looked lengthy. Your curls would take twice as long to grow back if you didn’t take the right measures and care recommended by a beauty shop. Or even worse: the damage is frequently irreparable.
For this reason, as usual, I kindly request that you visit your go-to hairstylist. In doing so, your curls will soon return to being your hair’s most alluring feature. Ahead!
